Before playing
Select a safe and open area for playing. Be aware of ground conditions. Watch your step while playing. Be careful not to run into objects, other people or animals while you have fun with Bjong.
Starting the game
To start playing, just select difficulty level, size of the game area and number of balls. Hit "Start game" and off you go! As the first thing, you need to create your Bjong path. To do this, you need to walk just couple of steps to set your "right" direction. During the game the snail moves right when you move towards your "right" direction". Left works the same way, just as opposite to the right.
Playing with positioning
Bjong game lets you know when your GPS position is obtained and you are ready to play. In case you have difficulties with GPS, you may start a map application on your phone and visually ensure that the device is indeed able to get your position. Some phones are very fast to start their GPS feature, some are slightly slower.
Finding your favorite settings
When playing for the first time, you may want to try easy mode, XS or S game area, and 1 or 2 balls simultaneously in the game. Later on you may want to explore normal and hard modes, bigger game areas like M, L or XL, and finally juggle with 3 balls. Just try out different combinations, they provide very different experiences.
Distance points
In Bjong you get extra points by moving. You actually get a point from every meter you move. You can even run a longer distance to score more points, and you don't need to worry, the snail does not get lost or go out of the gaming area. You can turn around at any time, and the snail does the same.
Extra balls
If you move long enough within one game, you get an extra ball. And moving is indeed the only way to gain extra balls in Bjong! The bigger the game area, the longer you need to move to get an extra ball. With every extra ball you are also given a distance bonus, doubling your basic distance points. You may get up to 3 extra balls in each game.
It's a snail, not a cheetah
If you move faster, your snail also moves faster. However, we did not dare to break the laws of nature too much, so Bjong snail cannot go faster than 6 m/s, or 21.6 km/h, or 13.4 mph.
It's an animal, not a machine
Depending on the place, Bjong snail may momentarily have its own mind on moving desicions. However, keep on moving to the direction you want, the snail will follow soon enough. If the snail behaves very badly, try to change the place, that might make the difference.
Gaining energy and smashes
Bjong snail gains energy with hits and yummies. Every time you hit the ball or eat a yummy, your energy level increases. Notice that poisons decrease your energy level to zero. When you reach 100% energy level, you are given a "smash bonus" and the snail goes to the smash state. During the smash state you get 5x points on everything, even the distance points are 5x. The smash state ends right away when the snail hits (=smashes) a ball next time.
Scoring big time
Remember, yellow on yellow is something you want to have. This means that when a yellow snail (smash state) eats a yellow yummy (super yummy), you score big time indeed! However, this is nothing but easy, you may need to play couple of times to achieve this.
High scores
The game remembers your 5 best scores on every combination of difficulty, game area and the number of balls. That is, 5 best results for 45 combinations. The game also counts and shows the overall distance you have moved and the calories you have burned during playing. Ain't that something!
Joystick mode
We decided to allow you to play Bjong also indoors, on your sofa or at the airport. You may want to try out couple of tricks and execute them later outdoors. You can activate Bjong joystick mode with keypad phones pressing 5-8-5-8 while the game is starting. On touch phones, you need to press top-down-top-down areas of your display. With joystick mode you cannot make it to the high score lists, nor earn any distance points, but certainly you can have lots of fun! We recommend XS and S game areas for joystick mode.
